We also offer many online resources that can be accessed any time at home or at school with your library card number.

Library Resources

Family Book Bundle Requests: Please use this form to submit a request for a general selection of children’s books for your family. Our Children’s Librarians will do their best to fill your request within 48 hours. Requests for specific titles should be placed through the library’s catalog or by calling the Children’s Room at (203)284-6436.

Bookpacks: Contains approximately 5 similarly themed picture books and a companion Playaway that has an audio version of each book. Kids can listen as they read along.

Parenting Collection: These kits pair books for children with helpful parenting guides on a variety of hot topics, like dealing with grief, bullying, and more.

Reading Readiness Kits: Designed with the help of Wallingford’s literacy coaches to support emerging readers, they contain a mix of beginning reader books and supplemental items like flashcards, literacy games, and music CDs.

Red Bags: Containing 6-10 picture books around a central theme with ideas for related activities and a fun item like a puppet, puzzle, or music CD, these are a perfect story time program in a bag for parents and preschool teachers.

Bookflix
An early literacy resource that combines storybooks with video. For pre-kindergartners to third graders.

Playgarden Prep
Filled with videos, music, do-it-yourself projects, and live classes, this comprehensive online preschool program is designed to help children get ready for kindergarten.

Transparent Language Online
Transparent Language Online is a powerful learning system for over 80 languages. Navigate to “KidSpeak” for a kid-friendly version of this service.

researchIT CT
researchIT CT Includes full-text magazine and newspaper articles, biographical profiles, and many other resources.

Information for Wallingford Educators

Wallingford Teacher Card

Valid for use at WPL only.

stack of books with an appleGrade K-12 teachers in any Wallingford public or private school are eligible to receive Wallingford Public Library Teacher Cards. A library teacher card gives you access to our physical materials and our online resources.

The library does not charge fines for overdue Wallingford Library materials; however, full replacement cost for lost, missing or damaged items or fines for materials from other libraries will apply. Teacher cards may be used to check out educational materials to support a unit of study; items intended for personal use must be checked out on the teacher’s personal library card issued from their hometown.

Teacher cards expire on June 30th of the current school year. Please bring a photo ID and staff ID to the check out desk.

Do you need books for a unit or project you’re doing in the classroom? Wallingford Public School teachers are encouraged to fill out a teacher request form. Our Children’s Librarians will do their best to fill your request within 48 hours.
