Cross Bones by Kathy Reichs

After antiquities dealer Avram Ferris is found dead of a gunshot wound, an acquaintance shows forensic anthropologist Tempe Brennan a photograph taken in Israel in 1963 of a skeleton, insisting it's the reason Avram is dead. Tempe and Detective Andrew Ryan head to Israel to solve both the murder and a mystery revolving around a first-century tomb that may contain the remains of the family of Jesus Christ, a discovery that could rewrite 2000 years of religious history.

Moderated by Carole Shmurak, author of 11 books and Professor Emerita at Central Connecticut State University. To participate, contact Carole at cshmurak@gmail.com and put “Wallingford Mystery Book Club” in the subject line.

Fall 2022: Digging for Clues

Archeologists attempt to solve mysteries from the past, but sometimes they become involves in contemporary mysteries as well. Agatha Christie, whose second husband was the British archeologist Max Mallowan, once said, "An archeologist is the best husband any woman can get. Just consider: The older she gets, the more he is interested in her." Of course, in Christie's day, most of the professional archeologists were male; not so in this series.
