Teens

The Wallingford Library Teen Area is specially designed for teens in grades 6-12. We offer a great collection of fiction, graphic novels, and manga. We even offer Comics Plus to read on your tablet or phone. Enjoy free wi-fi, a device charging station, and 11 teen computers. Check the online calendar for a listing of programs for teens.

Teen Cuisine: Pumpkin Pie Rice Krispies Treats

Take a classic snack, rice krispies treats, and give it a fall upgrade! We’ll make the treats and add pumpkin and spices to perfect for the season. If you don’t eat them all, they’ll last for at least a week so you can serve them as a Thanksgiving dessert!

Mini Resin Jars

Make a cute jar out of resin! You can make a mini screw-top jar or a mushroom shaped jar. Due to the time resin needs to cure, you will need to pick up your jar the following week.

Scratch Programming Workshop

A STEM education workshop designed to teach Scratch programming. This class offers specialized, interactive learning activities tailored to each student’s unique needs, ensuring they can fully engage with the material. Our goal is to increase STEM involvement and create opportunities so that all students can thrive in technology and innovation.

All students will need to have a free Scratch account in order to participate in the program. If you do not already have an account, please create an account beforehand: https://scratch.mit.edu/join. Make sure to bring your username and password with you to the workshop.

Trading Card Battle Club

Calling all trading card sharks! If you have the urge to battle, come bring your Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Magic the Gathering cards down to the library to test your skills and compete for prizes. Premade decks can be provided by the library but bringing your own is encouraged.

Customize a Tote Bag

Customize a plain tote bag with any design you come up with! We’ll use the Collaboratory’s sublimation printer which will allow you to create a full-color design.

Deb Jaffe will lead you through the steps to create your very own Krampus from clay! Krampus is a European legend, a mythical creature that appears around the holidays.

Laser Cut Winter Scene

Assemble and paint a winter-themed scene in a layered “snowglobe”. All pieces will be pre-cut using the Collaboratory’s laser cutter.

Snowflake Name Window Hangings

Use CorelDRAW to create your name as a snowflake pattern to hang on a window! The snowflake will be etched and cut out on the laser cutter using clear acrylic.

Crochet Ornament
Saturday, December 21st, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Collins Room

Crochet a cover for a standard ball ornament! We’ll crochet a flat piece that we’ll wrap around the ornament and sew together to keep in place. We’ll go over all 3 stitches required for the project via video and live instruction. Crochet experience isn’t required, but it is helpful.
