Program Description

Event Details

On Monday, April 8th, 2024, a total solar eclipse will take place over the North American continent that will be primarily visible from the northeastern United States. But - what exactly is this phenomenon? Why does it happen? Where can you see it in its totality? Will it be visible in Wallingford?  How can you watch and photograph it safely? Laurie Averill, a NASA Solar System Ambassador and Outreach Volunteer for the Astronomical Society of New Haven, will answer all these questions and more in this exciting presentation at the WPL. Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to handle the Society's meteorite collection while learning to identify different types of space rocks. Solar eclipse glasses will be distributed to one member of each household present at the event! Please sign up below.
