VIRTUAL & IN-PERSON MEETING
Stoner by John Williams
William Stoner was born on a cash-strapped Missouri farm to traditionalist parents at the start of the 20th century. He grew up learning the disciplined ways of farm life. His parents plan to send him to the local college to learn agriculture. He is largely uninterested in soil chemistry but falls in love with literature, becomes a professor and lives a quietly rich and vibrant life. Williams’ 1965 novel became a surprise bestseller in the 21st century.
Moderated by Readers Advisory Librarian Cindy Haiken. For details about meeting virtually or in-person, contact Cindy Haiken at chaiken@wallingfordlibrary.org.
