Trust by Hernan Diaz
A reclusive trader named Andrew Bevel amasses a large fortune during the 1920s and keeps it during the early stages of the Depression. While Bevel concentrates on making his fortune, his wife supports the arts, particularly the development of 20th Century classical music. Bevel’s story unfolds in four separate but overlapping and interrelated texts that are in turn understated, overly dramatic, nuanced and secretive. Diaz’s 2022 novel was longlisted for the Booker Prize and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
