The Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT has one of the most extensive collections of Middle Eastern art in the country. In honor of Arab-American Heritage Month, Hamid Hemat, Curator of the "Divine Geometry" exhibition at the Wadsworth, will take us through the museum's fascinating anthology of Islamic and Middle Eastern art & artifacts. He will also delve into the development of calligraphy and written forms in Islamic art history, tracing their evolution from the early Islamic period through to the present day. Additionally, he will offer a live demonstration of Persian calligraphy so the audience can see this beautiful ancient art form in practice.
